May: How Contracts Can Protect Your Work

Contracts are essential for protecting your work as a freelancer. A good contract helps you and your client define the work, set expectations, and avoid misunderstandings. This month's SPARK will offer tips for freelance-friendly contracts, and how to stay protected:

  • Getting paid on time
  • Copyright and ownership
  • Protecting against common pitfalls
  • And we'll introduce you to the free contract creator you need to put it all in writing.

There will also be time to network with other freelancers who may be able to offer tips you hadn’t considered before.

Regardless of industry, we all share similar experiences as independent business owners! We try to ensure everyone leaves with insights and connections that will help their business thrive.

About Our Community Partner: Freelancers Union is a community run organization, with volunteer leaders across the US working to promote the interests of independent workers through advocacy, education, and services. In Orange County, they host a monthly meet-up called SPARK, led by led by Bridget Soden Mills and Cara Stewart Raffele.
